SEPTEMBER 1 & 2 - GIRLS WEEKEND AND SISTER'S B-DAY!!!
My mom emailed a few weeks back and said it was time for a Girls Weekend - so we arranged schedules and partied it up! Thanks to amazing timing, we were able to host a birthday party for sister again - LOVE that tradition! - AND add two very important special guests to our guest list {Kathi and Madi, we love you!!!}.

SEPTEMBER 4 - CROCKS 'N SOCKS
I've never said much to E about his style...especially when it comes to his wearing socks with sandals. But the fact that his son is now sporting "the look," and that I'm the one who put him in it, cracks me up. It was cold, so I didn't want to take boy's socks off but I also didn't want him to slip around on the wood floor and break his neck. I slipped the crocks on whilst we were downstairs...and have subsequently purchased socks with skid resistant stuff on the bottom. :)

SEPTEMBER 13 - CAR VS CAKE
So, boy's been having some issues with eating - like he won't do it. Try as I might, the boy just won't open up and enjoy. {Most likely caused by teething, but SO FRUSTRATING!} So, in desperation {desperation makes for bad parenting...} I offered him a piece of delicous, moist homemade angel food cake. Stryker poked at it for a few seconds and then suddenly looked up and signed "more." Feeling excited to think he might actually get some calories into his system, I went over to him and tried to put a bite of the cake into his mouth. He stuck his tongue out in refusal, signed "more" again, and then pointed and grunted to the little Lego cars he saw sitting on the counter. As much as I don't like to let him have toys during meals {ha ha ha, cake's a meal now, didn't you know?!}, I figured he might be distracted enough with the cars to eat. {See, this desperation thing is killing all of my "parenting ideals!" :) } YEAH RIGHT! When faced with the choice of playing with cars or eating mama's homemade delicacies, what do you think my son goes for?
 |
| Ha ha ha, mom fell into my trap of giving me toys during a meal... |
 |
| I'll psych her out into thinking I'll give that piece of cake the time of day... |
 |
| Got my car, keeping my mouth shut! |
 |
| Cars prevail!!! {This kid is so his father!} :) |
 |
| Anything motorized will do, actually! |
 |
| CHEESE! |
SEPTEMBER 16-22 - LAKE POWELL!!!
The pictures pretty much speak for themselves... It was an awesome trip - full of great times, amazing food, incredible relationships, and SUN. Stryker even seemed to enjoy the sand and water...so long as it was on "his terms." :) The only travesty of the trip was the accident Mom S had the second day in. She slipped getting back into a kayak and broke her femur. OUCH! :( What a capable team she had supporting her, though. They got her splinted up, into the boat, and to the marina within a couple of hours. That woman can tolerate her some pain. Wow! Talk about SUPER MOM! They life-flighted her directly from the marina to Flagstaff.
{The surgery went all and she is now taking it easy for awhile at home. :) }
SEPTEMBER 26 - 9 x 13
Did you know an almost 18 month old named Stryker can fit into a 9 x 13 pan? He never ceases to amaze!
