Doctor Says - Part 2

"YOU HAVE A HOLE IN YOUR HEART!" the doctor exclaimed.
"Sweet!" said I.

"We can fix it quickly and rather painlessly and you'll be feeling well again within minutes after the procedure."

That was what I was hoping to hear in my follow-up appointment with Dr. Altamirano (the neurological specialist) this morning. Unfortunately, the experience proved to be slightly less climatic than I was anticipating.

NO HOLE people. And my brain is very healthy looking.

The MRI did reveal that I have severe chronic sinusitis, however. So I get to talk with another doctor about fixing that. :) As for the constant headache/migraine situation, Dr. A says we need to "retrain" my brain into a healthy thinking pattern. It has been in pain for so long, it no longer "remembers" how to produce all the good stuff it needs to, which basically means it's restricting the production of endorphins! Endorphins are happiness but they also act as a natural pain killer. My brain's suppressing them...restricting the proper levels and causing a "depression of the brain." So it's on to a daily preventative medication once again (month trial period), Lamictal (another seizure medication). Dr. A also gave me a pain killer that I can take upon the onset of a migraine.

If this treatment doesn't work, it's on to another round of MRIs (of the neck) and possibly ?cortizone? (can't remember what she said) shots in my neck.

So here's to some more guess work and guinea pig testing!!! :)

I'm really sorry you didn't get the results you were hoping for, but it looks like you have a good doctor that will have you on the right track. My neck pain was the remembered kind; thus the radio frequency nerve burns, which helped so much! Best of Luck with the treatments! Lots of love!
