I'm not sure where May went. Thankfully I did document a few experiences...
Stryker's 12 month check-up was in May rather than April {long, boring story}, so his stats are slightly skewed since he was closer to 13 months than 12...
Length: 31.5" - 63rd percentile
Weight: 21 lbs - 25th percentile
Head Circ: 18.5" - 70th percentile
He's holding strong to his long and lean frame. The doctor was very impressed with Stryker's development {he received very high marks on his Ages & Stages Questionnaire} and smarts. I told him I'm super impressed by them too. Seriously. Sometimes it worries me how smart kids are these days...not sure I know how to be a mom to a genius. A least I can help him find answers, since I definitely don't have them all!
MAY 5 - PLAYTIME WITH DAD...MONKEY ATTACK
Stryker loves monkeys, but I'm not sure how he feels about having one hanging on his back!
MAY 8 - FORK SKILLS
Stryker's honing his fork skills, though more often than not, he picks the food off the fork and then eats it! Such a funny kid.
MAY 10 - THIRTEEN MONTHS OLD!!!
Stryker is very close to walking {he'll take 5 or 6 steps on his own} but he's just not ready to commit to it. He's a very fast crawler so I don't think he feels like he's missing out on too much. Though the sleep department has been a real struggle his whole life, Stryker has started to sleep through the night {YAY FOR MOM!!!} for the most part. The downside is now he's acting like he only wants one nap during the day. Hmmm, we'll see about that. :)
We cut him off from his sucky sucky cold turkey last Tuesday, but he hasn't really seemed super phased by it, which is great. He didn't have any reaction to cow's milk {we were nervous about it because of his issues earlier in life} and now drinks a good 6 - 8 ounces at a time {which for Stryker is a huge accomplishment}! He loves food - though he definitely knows what he wants to eat, so sometimes it's a fun guessing game - and he is doing a great job of feeding himself...and he'll even hold his own sippy cup now. :)
Our little man absolutely LOVES being outside and will play contently with a stick or blade of grass or an ant for hours. A few days ago he actually branched out and crawled around on the sidewalk and grass. I think he really enjoys the idea of "freedom." He particularly loves watching his dad work on cars and is just itching to "get into it" with him, but we've told him walking is a prerequisite. :)
Stryker successfully uses a few signs that we've been teaching him - "more," "milk," "food," and "finished/all done" - and he understands "thank you," "please," "help," "wash/bath," and "play," which helps in the communication department. He is very good at pointing, but sometimes that turns into a guessing game for mom and dad.
We feel so blessed to have this healthy and happy little man in our lives! He rocks!!!
MAY 13 - HEIDI GIRL'S BIRTHDAY PARTY
Steph, Zuri, Senya, Stryker, and I piled into the Jeep and headed north to celebrate Heidi's first birthday. Sister planned a lovely picnic dinner and fun crafts for the little people. It was nice to get out and enjoy the gorgeous spring weather. I sure wish I could spend more time lovin' on my amazing niece!
MAY 16 - BOY STILL LOVES HIM SOME MOWER
Stryker has figured out how the mower works - he'll put the key in the ignition, pull on the "blade engage lever," and move the steering wheel. Eric and I were blown away. You seriously only need to show this kid something once and then he's got it.
MAY 18 - IN THE ZONE
And this is why we have limited "tv time." :)
MAY 20 - ECLIPSE!
After boy went to bed, E and I headed out back with a blanket and pillow, a welding glass shield, and our camera. We enjoyed watching the eclipse and even snagged some pretty good shots. Our home teacher, his son, and our next door neighbors came over for awhile to enjoy nature's glory as well, so I popped some popcorn and we "made an evening" of it. Good times.

MAY 21 - GMA SORENSEN VISITS
We ended the month with a fun visit from Gma - and later Gpa Sorensen, Auntie Angie, and cousin Carson. Stryker sure loves his Gma...and her phone! :) I failed to take any pictures {!} however, which upsets me a little. *sigh* But it was wonderful to see everyone and celebrate Brad's graduation from high school {you rock, man!}. We love you all so very much!
